Preventative Education

Brushing should last at least two minutes. Three minutes is even better!

After consulting with your dentist or hygienist about your oral health's greatest needs, look for products within that category (for example, within the tartar control brands or within the desensitizing toothpaste brands) that have received the American Dental Association's (ADA) Seal of Acceptance.

A combination of both is recommended.

Manual flossing can do a better job of cleaning between teeth; while Water Flossing does a better job on surfaces and especially excels at cleaning gum pockets at the base of your teeth.

You should have your teeth checked and cleaned at least twice a year, though your dentist or dental hygienist may recommend more frequent visits.

The main risk with hydrogen peroxide (the chemical agent used in a majority of whitening products), is that it irritates and bleaches the gums.

For this reason it is recommended that a dentist performs whitenings. Dentists apply bleaching solutions to the teeth very carefully to limit potential contact with the gums.
